Subject The Firebird Book
Author Helen Borrie
Hello all,
To scotch any rumours being raised by Amazon's auto-response system, that
The Firebird Book isn't going to happen, it IS going to
happen. Unfortunately, it has been given another delay and it looks
possible it won't be through production before mid-July. This appears to
be a question of getting the capacity to produce an unusually large
book...it looks set to weigh in at about 1.8 Kg.

I think Amazon's confusion has a lot to do with the outdated or incorrect
information they have been getting from the publishers' marketing
people. Amongst several dramas, both major and minor, the title of the
book changed no less than four times between "Go" and "Whoa" but I see
today that, at least, Apress's own listings have been brought up to date.
See the Forthcoming Titles link at www.apress.com, find the listing (it's
the 45th in this list) and click through to Details.

Confusion seems to rule at Amazon, anyway. They do have the up-to-date
cover graphic, but the title is still wrong. And, amazingly (Amazonly?)
they are offering the book bundled with a title about using Samba. Just
don't take this as a sign that it has somehow become *possible* to run a
Firebird database on a Samba share !!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a little request from me to you: I'd appreciate it if the private
emails regarding the likely release date of the book would stop. The
volume of these messages is starting to become seriously unmanageable.

Thanks.
Helen
