Yes, Canada. I finally settled here, after 5 years in the
US. Originally from Poland (you will notice my strange
English sometimes). Australia was my first choice, but they
wanted me to have $250,000 dollars to settle there. Kinda
unrealistic for the then 20 something years old student in
a communist country.

Still, the snow here in Canada can be fun. Gloomy winter
days help combat computer screen glare ;) I'll send/post
some snow pictures if you want. Perhaps Niagara Falls,
which is about 20 minutes from my house, and beautiful in
Winter. No snow this year yet, but it will surely come.

As for the media/library rental system; incidentally I am
negotiating a small contract with an equally small a
library, where some work on an existing product would be
involved. Nothing cast in stone yet. I should know more in
a few days, perhaps in the first days of January. A system
like the one you mention could be very desirable by many
small town libraries, i.e. a large part of Canada. Are you
planning on using GPL? Low-cost commercial? Other? For now
the library I will be talking to uses Mandarin M3
(www.mlasolutions.com)

Oh, and I spend my childhood in a library for the most
part. While my friends were playing them Injuns, I had to
play among bookshelves and book catalogues. My mother was a
librarian. I mention that because I think its a funny
coincidence.

OK, its getting late here, so Ill try to catch some
sleep.

Nigel, I cant send you snow other than in a picture
format, but perhaps you would care for a small bottle of
Canadian Whisky? They say its pretty good, but Ill have
to check with the Australian consulate about duty taxes. If
that doesn't work then the second thought is Canada's
animal - the beaver! But I guess that would be hard to get
through the excise people too. (Oh, maple syrup has strange
taste).

Thanks for your response,
Darius
