Hi all,
FYI: In the current edition of the well-known German computer
magazine "iX" is an article about the Open-Source Databases
Firebird, MaxDB, MySQL and PostgreSQL. p. 36ff
Firebird got a pretty good press. IMHO
An abstract and a summary and a discussion forum is available
here (in German of course ;-)):
http://www.heise.de/ix/artikel/2004/02/036/
Altough, one argument in the article is simply wrong, namely
the author criticizes the missing commercial support for Firebird
which might be important for mission critical projects. AFAIK,
that fault has been already objected in the discussion forum,
stating that IBPhoenix offers professional/commercial support.
Anyway, Firebird as product did a good job.
