Back in November 2002 the Pheonix team was 'advised' that
using the Firebird name would cause problems and that we
would defend it's use. We thought that they had listened to
the arguments and that Firebird had been removed from the
list of options at that time.

When the announcement was made that they saw no problems in
using it and claiming that they did not even know of the
conflict, then I am afraid some of us blew. For that I am
sorry, but for the Pheonix group to claim that they were not
aware of a problem after it had been spelt out seems a
little strange? And their continued insistance that they did
not know of the Firebird Project prior to the announcement
is simple unbelievable on our part.

If they fit a wireless computer with internet access and
management database, then perhaps they will. We did ask for
comments when we first used the firebird name and no one has
complained, while I believe there were comments about the
use of IBPhoenix, but that was never pressed.
