Is anything happening 'behind the scenes'?

Have we just been sat upon and now have to live with the
consequences, or is there any light at the end of the tunnel.

It would be nice to know some real facts. I've been keeping
my head down, and bitting my lip, but if this is now a done
deal that I think I am looking for a new browser for the
html stuff - anybody got konquerer working on windows? <g>
