One thing I don't understand. How does one register protest against
something without writing to the 'powers that be'? Those powers could be
members of congress or parliament, company directors or, in our case,
project leaders. Writing letters and encouraging supporters to do so
seems an eminently democratic form of protest. No-one gets hurt and
nothing gets broken.
A handful of people have written to me expressing outrage that we have
encouraged people to write to the Mozilla project leaders. I've
explained that we have tried to discuss the issue with them privately.
And I've also asked them for better suggestions as to how we (as a
community) should make our views known to the relevant people. I'm still
waiting for a reply.
