For a project such as Mozilla, with all the access you have to expertise
from AOL, it surprises me greatly that you sleep-walked into this in the
first place. Why on earth did you choose the name Phoenix for a
sub-project? It certainly raised my eye-brows when I first heard of it
last year.
see an important component of the Mozilla project using the Firebird
name as though it already owned it outright.
that well-known Mozilla advocate Asa Dotzler it is quite refreshing.
guarantee you that the Mozilla project will be dogged by this fight for
months to come. I'd go into damage limitation mode as quickly as
possible if I were you. Get an official apology to the Firebird project
out, and announce that you are dropping the Firebird name for your
light-weight browser project. It may look like you're losing face but it
is the most courageous step you can make.
