This is a good point, which was brought up before.

My opinion is that using a mascot associated with war and military
aggression is a seriously bad idea, however amusing the idea of a
"sports tank" might at first appear.

May I suggest that, with a name like "Firebird", the mascot will have
to be some sort of bird... perhaps a phoenix? ;-) Perhaps an eagle in
a "power dive" position might do it.
