I was perusing some of the past SEC filings for Borland and thought people
might be interested in how much money Borland is still making with Interbase
and the impact of Firebird.
2001
Total Revenue: $187.0 million
JBuilder: $64.4 million
Delphi, C++, and Kylix: $48.7 million
AppServer (MIDAS), VisiBroker, and AppCenter: $36.1 million
Interbase: $7.9 million
2000
Total Revenue: $163.7 million
JBuilder: $43.6 million
Delphi, C++, and Kylix: $46.5 million
AppServer (MIDAS), VisiBroker, and AppCenter: $39.4 million
Interbase: $11.3 million

I think it's interesting to note the 30% drop in revenue off Interbase from
2000 to 2001. It sounds like Firebird is having a measurable impact on
Interbase revenue. Also notable is that the followup SEC filings for 2002
have stopped breaking out the Interbase revenue separately, but now rather
group it with the AppServer, VisiBroker, and AppCenter revenue. I assume
this was done to hide the fact that release of Firebird 1.0 had further
negative impact on Interbase revenue.
As a side note, it is surprising that Delphi revenue was flat and JBuilder
revenue was up 48%.
Overall, I am gratified with these results. It shows that Borland is doing
great and Delphi will be around for a long time to come. I am also
encouraged that Interbase is becoming a marginal business for them, and
perhaps they will give up the ghost on Interbase and return it to the
Firebird community, ending this horrible fork they have caused and allow us
to present one face to the development community.
