I'll let someone else better qualified to give you reasons why you
should use FB, but in the mean time let me recommend ADODB
(http://php.weblogs.com/ADODB) for db abstraction for FB or
postgressql. It made my move from ASP/ADO/SQL Server to PHP/FB very
smooth.
