I like ant too, but despite its cross platform java strengths, it is not
currently a tool usable for cross platform c++ compilation/linking. I put
some stuff together in my ant script that compiles interserver on linux
using gcc, however it obviously is not portable to visual c++/windows, and
it doesn't correctly handle dependencies. I don't have any windows tools,
so I can't try to compile it there.
