Hi
I am new to this whole discussion about logos and slogans etc. I am
of the opinion that one should move away from Interbase completly. Let
the slogan rather reflect on the power and ease of use of firebird than
on its inheritance. I know it is nice to use the established market of
Interbase but lets rather break away. We will always have the big mama
effect if we use interbase in a slogan or logo wherever.
a few ideas for slogans
"Firebird the opensource database that makes sense!"
"Firebird, Opensource databasing unplugged"
"Firebird, The opensource choice"
"Firebird, The administrators choice"/Management's Choice/The programmers
choice
Thats all I could think of for now.
Cheers
Gerhardus

Hi,
I'm still looking for a good Firebird slogan, a short sentence which
characterizes the product.
So far you've seen I used "Firebird, the open source InterBase(r)
descendant". The idea was to have something that describes its
relationship with InterBase.
However, I received some comments about this and am not really happy
with it myself. The problem is, that "descendant" somehow gives the
image of the big mother InterBase and its little child Firebird. That
would of course be wrong. Since the two products have a common point
of depart (the source code released in 2000), their relationship is
somehow more that of brothers or sisters, rather than mother-child.
Also, I have the impression development is more active at Firebird
than at Borland, and that Borland copies Firebird improvements
whereas Firebird doesn't copy Borland improvements. So, for the
improvement part, it looks more like Firebird is the mother and
InterBase the child ;)
Anyway, so, how would this sound:
Firebird, the open source twin of InterBase(r) ?
Cheers
Markus
