I had the same problem with Windows ME
It has to do with the way the ME does the restore monitoring

It is easy to solve, by doing one of 2 things.
1. Relocate the GDB file into a directory that is not being backed up by the
restore function of Windows ME (like My Documents)
2. Give the GDB file a different extension then GDB and is not one of the
Restore extensions (I am not sure which ones might not be, but you can try a
few and see)

I think the best is to relocate the GDB into a directory not being monitored
by the restore, or you could alter the settings not to monitor this restore.
I hope this helps, as it did help me a lot when I was struggling with this
and I need to solve it fast
