Dominique,
You haven't done anything wrong. IBConsole uses the traditional InterBase method of working out what version of IB it is connecting to. 6 is higher than 5 is higher than 4... so Firebird (with a main release number of 1) is too low.

A temporary solution will be provided in the next Firebird release and, in a later sub-release, we will introduce "native Firebird" and "InterBase compatibility" modes to resolve this problem along with others, such as client programs like IBConsole not recognising Firebird enhancements.

In the meantime, consider using another client. Several good tools are around. Look at the Tools pages (Database Management tools) at http://www.interbase2000.org and also the tools listings at http://www.ibphoenix.com

When you are ready to post support questions, would you please use the ib-support list?

Yes, it's fine. http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/ib-architect would be a good place to raise a question like this, too. <mailto:ib-architect-subscribe@yahoogroups.com> Perhaps when you have discussed it with the architects, you might feel like posting a feature request into the Firebird bug tracker database ( reach it through http://www.firebirdsql.org )
