Of course I read the article, did you? The article states that sales
will end 10/31 and support for 3.x will end shortly thereafter. I agree
that that is likely (& shortly will probably be 6 mons or so). And that
they would like to do the same soon for 4x.

My comment is means that I expect that they will have a hard time
terminating 4.x support so quickly.. I'd guess the end of 2002, or
thereabouts ... which could be announced at the beginning of 2001.
