My guess is that since he did the work with the expectation of being paid
for the effort he is re-assessing the situation to see if somehow he can
still get paid for the work. That will take some time to resolve. In the
end he may donate his efforts, but I certainly do not begrudge him not
wanting to give away what was only 2 months ago going to be purchased.
