Well, I downloaded this "little" applet and used about 7 minutes to fill in all the fields. During that period I was disconnected from my ISP, no need to keep lines busy (& charging) when not doing anything. When I finished, and clicked "Finish" button, I got a Winsock error, and everything is lost (I cut'n pasted one multiline comment before app closed).

I guess this is quite typical - IB community knows *lots* of how to optimize queries, but fail on the simplest user-side stuff. If the techno-gang is to run this show, it's just not worth it. IB isn't that brilliant, it actually suffers from quite a few weak points, too. I have *never* been able to crash an Oracle server, or corrupt the database. I have done that in about 15 different ways with IB since I started working with it half a year ago.

Another question: Why on earth did Inprise want to drop IB as version 6 is "just around the corner" ? Anyone wondering whether it was due to problems related to version 6 development, the developers, or some other quality aspect ? Noone has been able to describe what the conflicts that lead to central developers' resignment were actually about. May anyone actually say she's absoloutely sure about wanting to support those who left ?

...just wonder why everybody seems to be so sure what has happened, and what conclusions to draw from it...
