I agree, Kevin.
Making procedures � la MS was one of my ideas, but I never reserved time to
write some of the most basic that are needed.
If we want more powerful things to be done, somewhere in the future IB's
sprocs must have some support to cope with metadata, namely, create table,
alter view, etc.
For starting, there're four "system views" proposed on LangRef, chapter
"system tables and views", at the end of that chapter.
Do you remember Brad Silverberg? He had an important position at Borland
several years ago and he went to Microsoft (where he shined) but he resigned
latest year to dedicate his time to launch new companies and explore new
fields. May this IB issue attract him in any way?, I wonder.

"system" stored procedures - as can be found in other database products.
Actually, one of my "wish-list" entries for IB OSS (hey is IBoss a
marketable name?) is a set of standard system views and stored procedures
(for things such as changing an object owner, column size, etc).
