Take a look at Banana Pi ... 1000BaseT network and a sata connection
which runs a SSD disk nicely. Only dual core, but faster processor.
I did, but the reviews mostly said that it didn't actually work.
Serious, a development platform doesn't need to be scathingly fast as long as it more or less models the production environment. The 100 MB (barely) RPi Ethernet to GB Ethernet is roughly the same as the different in speed between the RPi 2 and a good AMD/Intel x86_64 server. And besides, I need all the cores I can get. A more serious problem is the single GB of ram. When I wrote Interbase, it was more ram than I could imagine, but times have changed.
