The cheapest way to run Firebird SQL on your own hardware. (Debian ARM)

The Raspberry Pi Zero wasn't all that interesting, but the Raspberry Pi 2 pretty much blew me away -- 4 900 MHz cores, 1 GB ram, Ethernet, and 4 USB-2 ports for $35. And it runs full bore Ubuntu Linux.
I've put together an 8 node cluster ("Raspberry Pile") for less than $500 all inclusive with 32 GB uSD on each for AmorphousDB development. The AmorphousDB port was trivial, but the multi-node debugger less so. As it turns out, when you get down to stack frame tracing and ptrace the platform has some pretty significant challenges.
Thanks for the pointer. We were way out of touch when the RPi 2 was announced and would have missed it completely without your post.
