Yes, this is the wrong list, "firebird-general" would be the better one.

And no, you are mistaken, Firebird is open source and will continu
to be open source and is free for you to use in a commercial project.

Nevertheless, if you're making money by using Firebird, it is appreciated
if you donate some of that money to the Firebird Foundation in order to
keep development of Firebird going.
