Excellent. I went looking, but a search for the string "version" wasn't
helpful. Apparently neither was my second try. In any case, this does
give us the ability to extend the XSQLDA (again), saving us from a
premature overhaul of the API.

Vulcan doesn't check the version, but will at the earliest opportunity.
