Exactly right. It was part of the IB 4.0 shift toward
ANSI SQL standards and away from proprietary syntax.

I believe (but I could be wrong) that SQL privileges are
implemented with security classes behind the scenes,
much like BLR is the real language for triggers and
stored procedures.
