As followup, I have done more testing on this problem.

I created a simple form in a stand-alone application in which I copied the actual components used in the large application in order to test this problem.

I copied the following components:
TIB_Connection,
TIB_Query,
TIB_Datasource,
TIB_Date

In this test application, the TIB_Date field works as expected, it is not fully black.

This seems to prove that there is nothing about these specific components causing this problem. Yet something in the larger application is creating this problem. Anyone seen anything like this? What could cause this?
