If you use classic, the server does not "restart". Classic spawns a process per connection, which means that if a process dies, other processes (and their connections) are still fine.
Does the server log show anything else that is "special"?
Are the server and the clients on the same network, or is the traffic
between them routed?
It seems to me that this is no IBO issue, so you might have more success asking this question
on the firebird-support list.

Hello, I’m using Firebird 1.5 classic (db version: WI-V6.3.6.5026). We have a client is hosting several databases on their server. Then our application connects from whichever computer the client is using. Recently we’ve been getting occasional users reporting errors with the error code 902. I’ve read this FAQ and checked on the server to see if it was restarting but the logs show that it has been running without any problems. Any advice on how we could try to track down what is causing this problem? Michael McFarland Trust Builders, Inc.
