Even when you untick the installation of interbase, it does it anyway.
You need to replace the client dll as mentioned by others. But then you
need to reboot as the old one is still in memory.

I have also had my security database trashed twice - which I am also
blaming on XE3 install (or mis-install) of interbase. Not very good
really... its rather like having MS back in charge, surreptitiously
making sure that the competitions products dont run (well).
