The next release will have a fix in the handling of binary blob fields.
Perhaps it will address your issue.

Yes it was. ISO8859_1., exactly the same charset you were using. I modified
the domain to explicitly use UTF8 and did not work the first time, then
memories of the past, Interbase, came back so Backup/Restore and magically
it worked. I was streaming text to the field, plain english, no accentuation
etc., and it was driving me crazy. This so far has solved 80 percent of the
problems.

However I still have a problem with binary blob fields.
