Its because the linker has removed that bit of code because it has not
been used in your app. Assign it to a local variable. With
optimisation off, it should still be there.

Having said that, the Delphi debugger (2007) has got issues where
sometimes some identifiers are inaccessible. A little bit later, they
may work again.
