We have been using IBO 4.8x successfully on Vista for some time, but
without any IBO visual components. We use IBO's TDataset components for
all VCL purposes, and TIB_Cursor or TIB_DSQL for everything else. No
problems encountered.

However, we are also worried about the lack of involvement from Jason,
and have therefore decided to DBX4 as soon as a Firebird version is
available. In a seminar a couple of months ago I asked David
Intersimone about whether Codegear would be supportive of a third party
writing an FB version of DBX4, and he responded that there was no need,
as Codegear were going to do it anyway. It is not, however, mentioned
as a supported database in any of the recent Delphi 2009 literature.

This is very worrying. Customers are saying they will soon have no
choice
but to use Vista PCs. I keep telling them we dont support it but time is
running out. Some who have tried our apps in Vista have reported no
apparent problems but they have not carried out in-depth testing and if
they
discover issues we cant solve we may eventually lose them as customers.

Superficially it looks like Jason hasnt been very involved lately. What
is
the situation with Jason and what plans are there for future
development?
Perhaps if Jason isnt around Helen could shed some light?

Regards
Paul
