when I run my software from a client computer, not when I run my
software directly on the server.
I used to use the local protocol to connect two computers so that the
client computer could access the host computer via a crossover cable
on a two computer network. After a hard drive crash, I couldn't get it
to work again.
Using a discussion we had on a previous thread, I switched the
protocol to TCP\IP and changed the server name and databasename
properties accordingly.
When I run the client - strange as it may sound - an error message
pops up on the SERVER: Missing configuration file: C:\Program
Files\Firebird\Firebird_1_5\aliases.conf. When the user at that
computer closes the error box, I can then access the data.
It's only when I run a particular report (aggregates a months worth of
data) that I get the message on which this thread started: I/O error
for file 'C;\Windows\TEMP\fb_sort_2xh92j
I'm guessing that if I can fix the problem with the aliases.conf that
the other error may go away? What could be wrong in my setup?
If it's important, the two computers are both running XP, Service pack
2 and I'm running Firebird 1.5x
