Hi Jason,

It's not necessary to put the DB software kits on any sites, since
they are always downloaded from the Sourceforge production
repository. We always have a downloads page for any release or
beta/alpha, containing links plus descriptions, to enable people to
download the right one for their needs (prdownloads doesn't provide
for this).

We also make the release notes and the Quick Start Guide easily
accessible on this page, since people usually want at least the
installation instructions *before* they run an installer. These two
documents are in the \doc directory of the installed server but, as
separate files, they are in our own FTP space, not available from prdownloads.

For a full release there is also a fair volume of "bumpf" that is
written to inform everyone about the release and its contents. The
biggest demand for that is in the first days following the release
since, behind the scenes, a team of elves has been busy sending out
links to numerous news sites.

In short, today we're OK. We have the Firebird website up and
running normally, with the essentials mirrored at
IBPhoenix. Overnight, the cause of the webserver (and Tracker)
problems has been identified - nothing to do with *our* usage at all
but a rogue VH on the same box.
