I was able to get right on this and renew it.

What happened is I got taken in by a company spoofing as Network Solutions
and I paid them to (supposedly) renew my domain. Then, when Network
Solutions sent me the notifications they went to an old work address from 10
years ago when I originally set it up that didn't work anymore. It was
simply a surprise waiting to happen. Fortunately no opportunistic creep was
waiting to snatch the domain from me to hold for ransom.
