Daniel - Are you trying to open this read only, or is the database on a
read only device? ( or marked as read only in the file system )
I have seen this problem when I copy a database from a CD to hard disk
and forget to switch off the Read Only flag that comes with it from the CD.

That said - I think that there is supposed to be a mode that will allow
Firebird to work from a cd based database, but you need to set that up
first before trying to use it?
