so your suggestion is to use a third database as a transport medium
between the two if they aren't both available at the same time? That's
clever, I didn't think about that. But, you must have a local server
to do that, otherwise the intermediate database might not be at hand
(actually if server security is decent you won't be able to do that
remotely at all).

Don, I don't know about you, but I always have a local server
available since the advent of Firebird embedded. :-)

How else? Well, pick a file format or invent one, and then find or
develop import/export utilities. I guess IB_Export/IB_Import were
developed to reach that goal, but as seen they're half-baked. Your
IB_DataPump solution might well meet Don's requirements.

Otherwise Milan's fbexport (to be found on Sourceforge) might help.
It acts pretty much like a selective gbak.
