If I make the database connection active in design time it works but as soon
as the Web app does it it gives me the error
so it seems like it could be a configuration problem or something i am
missing.
I did see that a session should be available. I tried both delphi's session
as well as ibo sessions. It still gives me the error.

means you are still trying to connect using the BDE

usually means the server isn't running; but could be something to do with
the setup being a cobble-up up of BDE and IBO.

Hmm, provide more information about database objects, connection paths,
protocol, etc.
