Yep - I agree with the observation.

$30 in South Africa = 250 Rands SA currency = which can actually buy about
US$ 150 worth of stuff (in South Africa), so its pricey in South Africa,
especially if you add postage and import duties. Academic and Computer
books here are VERY expensive. ( 500 to 800 South African rands )
