I have been using IBObjects for a while and looking at DBExpress right now.
The only reason you can have for choosing DBExpress over IBObjects is if you want database independance.
for e.g. you are writing an app which requires you to use either Firebird, Oracle or SQL server as a backend.
If you just want access to firebird / Interbase ibobjects is much better as you can do a lot of things that you cant do in DBExpress.

Where can I find information comparing DBExpress and IB Objects?

IB Objects - direct, complete, custom connectivity to Firebird or InterBase
without the need for BDE, ODBC or any other layer.
