It's too long ago working with BDE, so I can't remember (and I'm still
glad forgetting about BDE ;-))

I think that DisableControls disables the notification events for
moving/scrolling and would have guessed that working on GridProperties
wouldn't count as such.

No I think it's there at least since V3. Maybe even V2, I don't use it
too often (as well the GridLinks property as V2 ;-)).
