Don, we have similar problems..... however certain sites manage to do it
more often than others. We have narrowed it down to views. Where
sometimes for no apparent reason IB/FB decides to do massive data
trawling (or has gone in a loop).

We are in the process of phasing out views.

The other thing we have noticed is that IB/FB does not always warn you
when you alter procedures that render caller procedures invalid. And of
course it never warns you of procedures used in views. Sometimes after
this, days later, it goes to cuckooland..

The final item is that increasing virtual memory on the server almost
always helps, ie reduces the frequency.
