Morning/evening Helen,

I've recently been playing with Lazarus on Linux. It's very Delphi-ish
in appearance and is trying to be an Open-Source Delphi. Still in
Alpha state at the moment but not a bad 'clone' IHMO.

It uses the Free Pascal Compiler as it's compiling system and works
pretty well. I wouldn't use it for anything serious just yet though,
but with enough support, it should do well.

One noticable thing, it loads up (on my 400 Mhz P2 beastie) in about 5
seconds. Kylix 3 (open) takes about a fortnight :o(

Have a look at http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/ if anyone is
interested.

Cheers,
Norman. (Still job hunting).

PS. Helen - commiserations about the Rugby World Cup, you Aussies can
'forget' the result in a very short time. We Jocks/Irish/Welsh have to
listen to the boasting and bragging for the next 40 odd years just
like we still have to do over 1966 Footie W. C. :o(
