I suspect, looking at the various format specifiers, that IB/FB is using the
separator to figure out a format (perhaps). Shame the '/' is only allowed on
mm/dd/[cc]yy. till, not to worry.

I had looked at the date datatype and casting too, but it never clicked -
until now. Maybe I'm spoiled rotten by having to work with Oracle :o)
