thanks for your comprehensive answer.
I thinks I will keep it as it is and live
with character set NONE because up to now,
it has had no disadvantages for me.
Maybe the situation will change some day -
then I will recreate my database using
ISO8559_1 and pump all my data from the
old to the new one.
This should be the most common way to
do it, right?
Looking at your answers, I have decided
that maintaining more than one character
set in a database can be very complicated
and prone to errors, so this will be no
way for me.
