I have similar problem here.
I granted Select, Reference rights on ROLE and granted ROLE to
USERNAME, still when I try to close query I got message don't have
update/write rights. This does not happends when i'm opening query.
Another thing is that messages from server are ugly to see when you
try to do operation for which you does not have right.
There is one thing that should be done anyway. I think that
IB_dataset should be aware of rights that current user have on the
interbase table that IB_dataset uses (in the moment of opening
dataset it should retrieve rights from server). In that case, for
example, TIB_UpdateBar could be aware of those rigths too and buttons
for insert, update, delete could be disabled automaticaly if those
rights wasn't granted to the current user.
