Look in the Contact sample application for an example of using
InvalidateSQL, Refresh, OnPrepareSQL and SQLWhereItems. This needs to
"click" for you in your mind. There is one appropriate way to use this
property and you are not thinking correctly about it.

For it to work the way you are thinking, that is what the Filter property is
for.
