Tried that and it doesn't help. I did a lot of research on google
and other lists and it appears that this is a chronic problem that
has plagued Interbase since at least 1997.
It appears to be entirely random. It will either connect or
disconnect in about 40ms, or it takes anything from 1 to 10 seconds.
It does this with all protocols, and with either an IP address or
Server name.
I read a post on google that this "bug" is going to be fixed in
Interbase 7.0. Perhaps I'll post this problem to the Firebird
Developers list.
