I vote YES, do it! :)
the raw API are very fast for LOOPS, but I think that the time spent to check for transaction and make them behave "standard" like IB_Query is well spent (milliseconds?).
Having them behave different will make a lot of confusion, problems, bugs in our app, and so on.
