It's up to you, but it should be really no work to move from IB 6 OE to
Firebird v1.0 Final.

Anyway, if you want to stay with IB 6 yet, then use IB 6.1.0.6.
Previous IB 6 OE versions are considered in general as buggy.

If you are talking about InterBase on Windows, then there is only SuperServer
available. On Linux, probably the download link has a 'SS' or 'CS' in it, to
see, which architecture it is.

I don't think that there is a API call or something similar, to determine
whether you are connecting to SuperServer or Classic.

If you see a 'ibserver' process running, then it is SuperServer.
Can't remember exactly what processes they are (a separate process for each
connection) for Classic.
