Is this a joined dataset? If so, you will need to set KeyRelation to be the table upon which you want edits and deletes performed (in this case I'm bemused by why the insert button is not greyed out..) or to set explicit statements in EditSQL, InsertSQL and DeleteSQL properties.

If it's not a joined dataset then the reason is that your Keylinks are either wrong (don't correspond to the primary key of the underlying table) or they are missing. Otherwise, there is no way to determine which row is to be updated or deleted - and the update bar reflects this. (It can insert OK without Keylinks but you will probably have trouble finding the inserted records after a refresh...)
