I haven't been following this thread too closely...but DropDownWidth is a read-write property so, if you don't know at designtime what the width will be, you should be able to set it correctly from reading the FieldsDisplayWidth of the columns in the dropdown list.

If alignment of the dropdown list is your problem, try explicitly setting the PopupAlignment property (it defaults to puAuto).

If these don't help and the problem isn't solved yet, could you post it again (Guido??)
