Near the bottom you will find the explanation for the upgrade
subscriptions - including conditions for the major upgrade (ie. v3 to
v4).
When you first purchase a licence to IBO, it provides you with a
licence to use the current version of IBO. This first purchase also
allows you can continue to download updates for upto 12 months from
the original purchase.
After the initial 12 months you have a choice:
* Continue using the last version you downloaded
OR
* Subscribe using the update process offered
The upgrade/subscription process described simply authorises you to
continue to download updates - essentially replacement licences - as
they become available.
You should probably note that every time you update any product, you
are really getting a replacement licence. Normally the licence will
actually remain very much the same, from version to version, but it is
really a new agreement (and as such you should check that you still
agree). You get it at a discount because it supercedes the previous
licence - it is not an additional licence.
So yes, you do buy a licence - but only a licence, not actual
ownership (of course). The upgrade/subscription process simply gives
you authorisation to keep updating your licence over the period in
question.
At least that is my understanding. I am sure Jason will correct me if
I am wrong.
